AMY HOULT
Pillowcases (2015)
Embroidery on stained pillowcases
An intimate piece incorporating one of the most private places, the bed. Amy gave four pillow cases to four people and asked them to put them on their pillows for a number of weeks, they were then given back with a list of what they had done with and on their pillow. The list was embroidered onto the cases as they had written it, and their names hand sewn discreetly onto the label of the pillow case, A compassionate act that reflected the whole performance, like a parent sewing their child's name into their clothes so they don’t lose them. The colours used for the date and name vary depending on the persons experience during their time with the pillow.
